How it Works: Proxy Server
Benefits/Features
- Enables on-site and remote access
- Easy to set up if your library has a proxy server and configuration experience
- Can provide an additional level of authentication, such as searching user databases for information such as fines
How it Works
Many libraries already use proxy servers to facilitate authentication. Users who want access to eContent will first be prompted for information (such as a library bar code) to be authenticated. Once the information is validated, the user will be able to access NetLibrary eContent.
When to Use
If your library already has a proxy server, it can also authenticate NetLibrary users.
Further Resources
If you need further assistance with authentication, please contact OCLC support at 1-800-848-5800 or support@oclc.org or contact your OCLC regional service provider. Customized options may be available in unique situations.
